I’m not really where to start with this one.
I was having lunch with a friend yesterday, discussing this past summer, and my friend – a long time sailboat owner – said, “wait, what do you mean about the floors have linoleum on them?”, and I realized I was completely integrated into the canal boat cruising thing, and that it’s not typical of what you get in the states in so many ways.
Next summer my boat partner, Chewey, will also be spending time on the boat, so we have to make sure that there’s enough room, but still having enough stuff to be comfortable onboard. This year we could just toss stuff into the v-berth with the assumption that we would deal with it later, but it probably won’t work like that next time.
All the systems are in good working order, we added Starlink with it’s own switch on the panel this past summer, but the interior needs a little bit, ok a lotta bit, of refreshing. I’ve already taken the fabric for the new cushion covers, but we are going to have to deal with the linoleum on the floors situation since that needs to be replaced, and we need to extend the salon seat bases before we do the new cushions.
Making it just like home, since it is just that for the summer.
We also got a tiny little (20L) real oven, which of course only works when we are hooked to shore power, so a new pressure cooker and a boat sized Dutch oven (no pun intended) are on the shopping list.
The boat is super comfy, and we have one spot that leaks but that should be fixed over the winter. There’s more caulk to be replaced, but that was moved down the priority list when we secured inside winter berthing at RFU, which is like the absolute best yard in Friesland, IMO.
